Dr. Rolland Roberts "Kim" Reed grew up in Tampa, Florida, where he met his wife, Ann, in high school. College, dental school and orthodontic residency were all accomplished at Emory University in Atlanta, and he finished in 1973. After two years in the Air Force at Edwards Air Force Base in the California Mojave Desert, Dr. Reed opened his orthodontic practices in Ocala and Crystal River, Florida. Over 10,000 orthodontic patients have been successfully finished and treated by him. Dr. Reed is committed to providing state-of-the-art care to his patients with a personal touch. He believes that this commitment should be evident from the first phone call the patient or parent makes to his office until the last appointment when braces or appliances are removed.
Recently, Dr. Reed proudly served as the president of the Southern Association of Orthodontists. Founded in 1921, the SAO has approximately 2,000 members and is the second largest of the regional associations in the American Association of Orthodontists. Included in its geographic area are the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. He is a past president of the Florida Association of Orthodontics, the Marion County Dental Association and the Emory Orthodontic Alumni Association. Dr. Reed is a recipient of the Florida Association of Orthodontists Distinguished Service Award, their highest prestigous recognition.
Dr. Reed was conferred into the Fellowship of the American College of Dentists. The college was founded in 1920, includes less than 5 percent of practicing dentists and promotes the highest ideals in ethical healthcare.
Dr. Reed and his wife have two adult children and eight grandchildren. His son, Dr. Juddson Reed, purchased the Ocala and Crystal River practices in 2007, enabling Dr. R. R. Reed to pursue a new chapter in his life. Through the years of visiting their daughter, Emily Greene, her husband, Jeff, and their five children, they knew that Boone was calling their names to move here to live and work. Dr. Reed is excited to continue providing outstanding orthodontic care to his North Carolina patients.
Dr. Reed has many personal interests. Topping the list is his family, followed by snow skiing, antique Model A Fords, golf, and college football and basketball.
